Leon fell in love with photography when he was 17 years old and ever since then he has been globe trotting with a camera.

Leon on his photography: “My profession has taken me all over the world and one of the great joys of this travel has been the friendship that has often developed from my work. I have always attempted to convey in my photographs the inherent dignity I find in all of my subjects, no matter what the occupation, no matter what the country, no matter what the setting.”

Leon’s work has typically been a “big picture” enterprise, and each of these bold projects has taken years of research, conception and production to complete. Behind every concept stands a very personal desire to fully explore the subjects and to deeply understand the people involved.

Today, although his work has branched out to include book and essay author, as well as film documentaries, Leon thinks of himself first and foremost as a photographer.
